vs. Managed Hosting
A dedicated server is just that, a server built to
your specifications dedicated for your use only--you manage
and control the server completely from a system
administration and application point of view. We're
responsible for maintaining the hardware and network
connectivity so you don't have to. If a hardware failure
occurs, we're responsible for returning the platform to
service as quickly as possible.
A managed server is exactly the same service as a
dedicated server described above. The difference is that you
can rely on our staff to perform various server and/or
applications management tasks; such as system
administration, complex monitoring, application management,
upgrades, backups, or complete management of your hosted
server or infrastructure.
A dedicated or managed server provides the same basic benefits that a co-located server provides. However, the major difference is that we are responsible for maintaining the hardware and network infrastructure--not you!
